WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Lead Software Engineer will co-lead a global engineering team building new automation solutions and supporting existing capabilities leveraging agile ways of working. They will collaborate with product management, technical architecture, Converse and Nike Peers, and business stakeholders to deliver automation products aligned to our long-term strategy.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Lead Automation Engineer has deep experience building automation solutions in a complex organization while also being able to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to identify new opportunities and prioritize work across the enterprise. They can work with their technology peers to design efficient programs and processes that meet business needs and have a low cost to support. The Lead Automation Engineer is proficient in DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery and automated testing, to ensure streamlined and efficient software development and deployment processes.

The Lead Automation Engineer has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to mentor, coordinate, and guide teams while collaborating with both business and technical audiences. They are comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed organizational environment, with globally distributed and diverse teams, excelling in team-oriented roles that rely on the ability to collaborate with others. The Lead Automation Engineer is self-directed, comfortable working in ambiguous environments, and capable of building positive relationships across Product, Architecture, and Engineering while influencing decisions and changes across loosely coupled teams.

  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably with PEGA or similar workflow automation software and Robotic Process Automation tools (Automation Anywhere, Power Automate, etc…)
  • Global Team Operational Flexibility: Candidates for this position must be able to adapt their schedules to accommodate off-peak hours as needed. This flexibility is essential for collaboration with our international teams and upholding Converse's commitment to delivering exceptional service worldwide.
  • Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies and best practices, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong project management acumen, with the ability to effectively plan, execute, monitor, and control engineering delivery in a structured manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Lead Automation Engineer, you will be the primary software engineer for the automation team. You will be responsible for translating business problems into technical solutions, working with the engineering team to break down and deliver the work, and be the primary point of contact for production support issues.

  • Collaborate with the product manager and build relationships across the business to identify new automation opportunities.
  • Lead pilots and collaborate with other technology owners to integrate our automation tools with new systems.
  • Coach the engineering team to deliver best in class solutions aligned to our governance framework.
  • Provide a point of view and bring to Converse industry best practice automation strategies and principles!
  • Triage production support issues and reduce tech debt to increase engineering capacity.
